Texas Farms Vermont

Historic view of Texas in Concord, Vermont
Texas in Concord, Vermont

Smack dab in the middle of Texas (in Vermont), our off-grid family farm offers the best quality, humanely raised heritage meat and open-pollinated, heirloom produce. We are passionate about working with nature to build soil health, maximize biodiversity, and regeneratively grow and raise the best food possible. Situated on a southern facing hilltop, we work the land with as little human intervention as possible.

We practice no-till farming, meaning the soil is disturbed as little as possible, which allows us to limit soil erosion, capture carbon in the soil, use less amendments and fertilizers, limit the use of large farming equipment, and foster the health of the microbiome in the soil. Our heritage breed animals thrive and grow on rotationally grazed pastures and woodlands and are free from antibiotics and hormones.

The Story

We know what you're thinking, "…..Texas? In Vermont?!" If you're thinking there MUST be story there, you would be right! Our farm sits on old farm land that a young lad once called home. He was caught up in the westward migration frenzy of the gold rush and was desperate to join in. He vowed that he was going to leave for Texas and would never have to use his side-plow ever again. In fact, he told so many people in town that when he eventually stayed and settled at his ancestral home, the townsfolk declared the area Texas.
